I do my best to get along with this society of the destruction period that is so terrible, as described in Zhuan Falun volume II, but I know it is getting worse by the day. I understand that you can’t expect to get to know people easily by writing cold e-mails and making cold calls, but there has to be a limit to people’s arrogance and unwillingness to engage. It is simply out of control right now, with people not responding to cold emails when it just doesn’t make sense. They have to be filled with hate, arrogance, or plain selfishness. If you can get a response and manage to start talking to them they are often combative. More than a decade ago I noticed that I couldn’t get a conversation going with someone in a field I didn’t belong to if in that area the person thought he or she was a big deal. It might be true or not. Because of my work in tech and previously crowdfunding, I might try to talk to someone in multiple fields. The person’s reach could be relatively small but big inside the field or locale where the person is known. It was absurd moving from one field to the next seeing all of the people acting the same way, when from a larger perspective– including my own as a someone who founded the all-or-nothing crowdfunding industry– they have nothing that allows them to be hard to reach. So many people are dedicated to setting up their own place for fame where they can look down on other people. They aren’t looking for proof of merit from you, but just whether you got famous or rich, to see if they can get self-interest from you. I know it has been very superficial: if I had gotten public credit for starting crowdfunding, a lot of people would have talked to me in those scenarios. But if they just read how I explained it or saw my 2019 interview, that wasn’t enough because it wasn’t the fame they were looking for.
